In handling your personal information, Orange Credit Union Limited is fully committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988, the National Privacy Principles and the Mutual Banking Code of Practice  . We will not use or disclose your personal information we hold other than for a purpose set out in this statement, a purpose you would reasonably expect, a purpose we disclose to you or a purpose authorised by law.

Providing your Personal Information to other organisations

 

In providing our banking and financial services to you, it may be necessary for us to provide your personal information to other organisations in order to provide you with a banking or financial service. We will tell you about this in the application form for the relevant banking or financial service

 

The types of organisations we may tell include our agents, contractors or external suppliers (such as Credit Union Services Corporation (Australia) Limited) and government agencies which regulate our products and services.

 

Information about Products and Services

  • you become a member and shareholder; and

  • you acquire any of our banking and financial services.

We collect information to enable us to:

  • provide membership benefits to you;

  • provide you with our banking and financial services, including services such as funds management, financial planning or insurance, or information about any of these products.

We may provide you with information from time to time about new banking and financial services that we can provide. However, you can contact us at any time to opt out of receiving any direct marketing from us by informing us in writing at any time.

What if you do not wish to provide us with information?

The Corporations Act requires us to obtain your name and address in order to issue shares to you. Also, as we are providing you with an account, the Financial Transaction Reports Act requires us to collect information to verify your identity and address. We also require information about you in order to provide our banking and financial services to you. If you do not provide us with all of the information we require, we may be unable to accept your application for membership and shares or provide banking and financial services to you. If you do not provide us with your Tax File Number there may also be taxation implications for you.

For further information about our Privacy Policy please contact our Member Relations Staff on (02) 6362 4466. Access to your personal information may be requested in writing to the General Manager. Subject to the Privacy Act, you may access the personal information we hold about you. Where we incur a cost in providing that information we may pass that cost on to you. If the information is incorrect, you have the right to require us to amend the information, which we will do at no cost to you
