To harmonise the needs of Orange Credit Union members, community, Staff and the environment

Orange Credit Union Management and Directors committed to our Sustainability journey in March 2011. 

We are a Bronze Partner of the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) Sustainability Advantage Program, which is a business support service to help organisations improve their environmental performance, reduce costs and add value to their business.

In September 2011, we set company goals to reduce: Water by 1% over 2 years, Energy by 5% over 2 years and Paper by 5% over 2 years. We have formed a Green Team of committed Staff members to see us through our sustainability journey which we have named "Greener Horizons".

By March 2012, we had celebrated a huge achievement by purchasing iPads for our Board of Directors and Executive Management team. This one change allowed us to terminate the printing of Board and Committee papers every month. We now save over 23,000 sheets of paper each year, which equated to over $12,500 in costs. This same month, we also stopped purchasing 10,000 plastic and poly cups per annum in favour of the more environmentally-friendly bio cups.
